How do I change my company’s registered office address?
File a change of registered office address with Companies House (form AD01), online or on paper. The new address must be an appropriate address in the same part of the UK as the company is registered. We file it for you with the company’s authentication code.
Is there a fee to change a registered office address?
No. Companies House does not charge for this filing. CorpAssist charges £44.99 to check the address and file the change.
When does the new address take effect?
When Companies House registers the change. For 14 days after that, documents can still be validly served at the old address, so keep an eye on post there.
Can I move my registered office to another part of the UK?
No. A company registered in England and Wales must keep its registered office in England or Wales; a Scottish company in Scotland; a Northern Irish company in Northern Ireland.
Do I need to change the directors’ addresses too?
Only if a director uses the old address as their public service address. That is a separate filing for each director. We tell you how after we file the registered office change.
Can I use a PO Box?
Not on its own. Since 4 March 2024 a registered office must be an appropriate address where post reaches someone acting for the company and delivery can be acknowledged.
