Service Address Questions
What is a director’s service address?
It is the correspondence address shown publicly on the Companies House register for a director or person with significant control. It can be any address where post can be delivered. Many directors use their home without realising it becomes public.
Is my home address still given to Companies House?
Yes. Directors must also give their usual residential address, but Companies House keeps it on a private register and shares it only with credit reference agencies and certain public bodies. Your service address is what the public sees.
Can my service address be the same as the registered office?
Yes. That is what this service does: the company and its director both use our address, so no home address appears on the public register.
Does it cover PSCs and other directors?
One director is included. Each additional director or person with significant control can use the service address for £24.99 a year each.
Will this remove my address from old filings?
No. It changes your address going forward. To remove a home address from older documents on the register, apply to Companies House with form SR01, which costs £34 per document. Change your service address first.
How do I change my service address with Companies House?
File a change of director details with Companies House (form CH01, free online). Once your address is set up we send you the exact address wording to use.
