Remove Your Home Address from Companies House (2026)
Change your registered office and service address first, then file SR01 (£34 per document) to remove your home address from old Companies House filings.
You can remove your home address from the Companies House register by filing form SR01 and paying £34 for each document the address appears on. But the order matters. If your home is still your company’s registered office or your service address, Companies House cannot remove it, and any new filing will put it straight back on the record. Change the addresses first, then apply to clean up the past.
How to Remove Your Home Address From Companies House: the Two-Step Method
- Stop your home address being used now. Move the company’s registered office to another appropriate address and change your director (or PSC) service address. Until you do, every confirmation statement and filing can repeat it.
- Remove it from older documents. List every filing that shows your home address and apply with SR01, paying £34 per document.
Most guides only describe step 2. Skipping step 1 is why people pay to remove an address and then find it back on the register a few months later.
Step 1: Replace Your Home Address Going Forward
A company’s registered office and each officer’s service address are public. Your usual residential address is also given to Companies House, but it is kept on a private register. So your home only appears publicly if you have used it as one of the public addresses.
- Registered office: it must be an “appropriate address” in the part of the UK where the company is registered, where post comes to the company’s attention and delivery can be acknowledged. A PO Box is not accepted. A registered office address service gives you one, from £39.99 a year with CorpAssist.
- Service address: the correspondence address shown for you as a director or PSC. It can be the same as the registered office. Our registered office and director service address package covers both for £59.99 a year.
Changing the registered office and your service address is free online. Once the changes are registered, new filings show the new addresses, and you can move on to removing the old ones.
Step 2: Apply With Form SR01
Find every document that shows your address
SR01 asks you to list each document, so start with the company’s filing history on the register. Open each filing and note the ones that contain your home address, such as:
- the incorporation application, if your home was the first registered office or your service address;
- appointment forms and changes of officer details;
- confirmation statements and annual returns;
- changes of registered office address;
- PSC notices.
Check every company you have been involved with, not just your current one. Each company’s filings are listed separately.
Work out the fee
The fee is £34 per document, paid before you submit through GOV.UK Pay. When the service started in January 2025 the fee was £30, and many pages still quote it.
| Documents listed | Fee |
|---|---|
| 1 | £34 |
| 3 | £102 |
| 6 | £204 |
| 10 | £340 |
A company that has used a director’s home as its registered office for a few years often has six or more filings to list. This is one reason to use a separate address from the start.
Send the form
Complete SR01 with your payment reference and send it to Companies House. GOV.UK says email (dsr@companieshouse.gov.uk) is the quickest way. You can also post it. Once the application has been processed, Companies House sends you a decision notice. If you disagree with the decision, you can appeal within 28 days of the notice.
The official guidance is on GOV.UK: removing your home address from the Companies House register.
What Companies House Cannot Remove
- Your company’s current registered office. Move it first.
- An address in the company name, for example when a company is named after a street address.
- Addresses in charge or mortgage documents that are part of the instrument itself.
- Copies outside the register. Third-party sites that copied the data keep their copies until you ask them to update.
Dissolved Companies
If the company has been dissolved, you must wait 6 months from dissolution before applying to remove a former registered office address. After that, the process is the same: list the documents, pay £34 each, and send SR01.
More Than an Address: Signatures, Date of Birth and Occupation
Since July 2025, SR01 also covers your signature, the day of your date of birth on older documents, and your business occupation. Directors no longer have to give an occupation when they are appointed. In February 2026 Companies House also dropped the requirement to request an assessment from a relevant authority, which made applications simpler.
If You Are at Risk of Violence or Intimidation
Removing an address from public documents does not stop Companies House sharing your residential address with credit reference agencies. If you, or someone who lives with you, are at serious risk of violence or intimidation because of the company’s activities, you can apply for extra protection under section 243 (directors) or section 790ZF (PSCs) of the Companies Act 2006. The standard fee is £100 and applications take at least 30 days. See GOV.UK’s guidance on protecting your personal information.
Removing Your Details From Google
Companies House data is public, and many directory websites copy it. Removing your address from the register does not change those copies. Once the register is updated, contact each site and ask it to refresh or remove the page, then use Google’s outdated content removal tool for pages that still show the old details in search results.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to remove my home address from Companies House?
Companies House charges £34 for each document you list on form SR01. The fee was £30 when the service started, so older pages may still show that figure. If your address appears on six filings, the fee is £204.
Can I remove my home address if it is still my registered office?
No. Companies House cannot remove an address that is the company’s current registered office. Move the registered office to another appropriate address first, then apply with SR01 to remove the old address from earlier documents.
Can I remove my address from a dissolved company?
Yes, but you must wait until the company has been dissolved for at least 6 months before applying to remove a former registered office address. Service addresses on a dissolved company’s filings can also be included on SR01.
Can I apply online?
You pay the £34 per document fee online through GOV.UK Pay, then send the completed SR01 with your payment reference. Companies House says email is the quickest way to send it. You can also post it.
How do I remove my details from Google?
Companies House can only change its own register. Many websites copy register data, and Google indexes those copies. Once your address has been removed from the register, ask each website to update its page, and use Google’s own removal request for outdated content.
What else can I remove from old filings?
As well as a home address used as a service address or registered office, SR01 covers your signature, the day of your date of birth on older documents, and your business occupation.
