What You Need Ready
- Your company number and the 6-character Companies House authentication code
- For a new director: full name, date of birth, nationality, home address and their Companies House personal code
- For a director leaving: their name and the date they stopped
- photo id of the person placing this order; proof of address (issued within the last 3 months) (you can send these after ordering)

They can verify through CorpAssist from £35.99: one online form, passports from 190+ countries, and a person checks the application before it is submitted through our Companies House-registered ACSP partner. Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add a new director to my company?
The new director verifies their identity with Companies House and gets a personal code, agrees to act, and the company approves the appointment as its articles require. The appointment is then filed with Companies House within 14 days. We file it for you once we have their details and personal code.
Does a new director need to verify their identity first?
Yes. Since 18 November 2025 a person must verify their identity with Companies House before they can be appointed as a director, and the filing includes their personal code. If they have not verified yet, they can verify with CorpAssist from £35.99.
Is there a Companies House fee to appoint or remove a director?
No. Appointments and resignations are free to file. CorpAssist charges £49.99 for each change we file.
How long do I have to tell Companies House?
Within 14 days of the appointment or of the director leaving.
Can I remove a director who will not resign?
Shareholders can remove a director by ordinary resolution under section 168 of the Companies Act 2006, with special notice. It is worth taking legal advice first. Once the director has been removed, we can file the change.
Can the last director resign?
A private company must always have at least one director who is a person. Appoint the new director before, or at the same time as, the last one leaves. You can order both changes in one order.
