Verification Status Questions
How do I check if a director has verified their identity?
Search the company above. The checker reads the public Companies House register and shows each active director and person with significant control, whether their identity is verified, and the date by which anyone not yet verified must do it.
What does “due by” mean?
Companies House has set a date by which that person must provide their verified identity, usually linked to the company’s confirmation statement date for directors, or the PSC’s birth month. After that date the person is overdue.
Why does someone show “not verified yet” with no date?
No verification or due date has been recorded on the register for that appointment yet. The person still has their own date: a director at the company's next confirmation statement, a PSC who is not a director in the first 14 days of their birth month. Check it with the deadline calculator.
I have just verified. Why does it not show?
Verifying gives you a personal code, but the register only shows you as verified once the code has been linked to your role, for example in the company’s confirmation statement or a PSC verification statement. It can take a few days to appear.
Do company secretaries need to verify?
No. Company secretaries are not currently required to verify their identity, so they are not listed. Corporate PSCs (companies that own your company) are also left out, because their own officers verify instead.
