Companies House Verification for Turkish Directors
How directors in Türkiye verify for Companies House: Turkish characters in names (İ, Ş, Ğ), Turkish ID cards and addresses.
Turkish citizens and residents of Türkiye who are directors or PSCs of UK companies must verify their identity with Companies House. You can do it online from Istanbul, Ankara or anywhere else. The issue that catches Turkish directors out most often is the spelling of names with Turkish characters.
This overview is also available in Türkçe.
Turkish Characters in Names
Turkish names often contain letters such as İ, ı, Ş, Ğ, Ç, Ö and Ü. Your passport may show them, while the Companies House register may show the name without them: İşcan written as Iscan, or Gül as Gul.
An automated check can treat that as a mismatch. On the ACSP route, a compliance officer compares your document with the register and records both spellings, so the application is not rejected for a character difference.
Which ID to Use
A Turkish passport is the most widely recognised choice. CorpAssist also accepts other valid government photo ID, such as the chip-enabled Turkish identity card or a driving licence, as long as the name matches your Companies House record.
