Can your accountant, company secretary or a family member verify your identity for Companies House? Who can do what, and how to hand off the rest.
No one can verify your identity for Companies House in your place. The point of identity verification is to confirm that you are a real person holding your role, so the check must be about you and your own document. Other people can still do a great deal for you: an accountant, company secretary or family member can help with the process, and an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) can carry out the check and file for your company.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can someone else verify my identity for Companies House?
No one can verify in your place. You must be the person being verified, using your own identity document. Someone else can help you with the process, and an ACSP can carry out the check on you and file for your company.
Can my accountant verify my identity?
Only if your accountant is a registered ACSP. Even then, it is your identity and your document being checked, with your agreement. Many accountants refer clients to a specialist service such as CorpAssist.
Can my company secretary verify all the directors at once?
No. Each director verifies individually. The company secretary can send instructions, track progress and collect Personal Codes for the confirmation statement.
Can I share my Personal Code with my accountant?
Yes, if they file for your company. Only share it with people you have authorised, because it links your verified identity to company filings.
My relative is elderly and not online. Can I do it for them?
You can help them fill in the form and photograph their document, but the application must be theirs, with their details and their consent. It cannot be made in your name for them.
