Best Registered Office Address UK 2026: Prices Compared

UK registered office address services compared: advertised prices from £22 to £65 a year, what each includes, and the costs that only show up later.

CorpAssist Compliance Team8 min readUpdated 28 October 2026

The best registered office address for most UK companies is the cheapest one that covers the full cost for your situation, not the lowest headline price. Registered office services advertised prices from about £22 to £65 a year in Google on 27 October 2026, and up to £17 or more a month for virtual office plans. The difference is in what is included: a director service address, post that is not from Companies House or HMRC, the identity check and the renewal price. This guide compares the advertised prices and shows what to check before you buy.

Prices below are what each provider advertised in Google results and adverts on 27 October 2026. We have not checked them on each provider’s own site, and promotions change often, so confirm the price and what is included before ordering.

What the Headline Price Usually Leaves Out

Two services at £25 and £50 a year can cost the same once you add what your company actually needs. Check these:

  • Director service address. The registered office is the company’s address. Each director also has a public service address, and many cheap plans do not cover it. If your home is your service address, it is still on the public register.
  • Which post is handled. Most plans scan official letters from Companies House, HMRC and the courts. Bank letters, supplier post and parcels are often charged per item, forwarded at extra cost, or not accepted.
  • The renewal price. First-year promotions are common. Look for the price you pay in year two.
  • VAT. Some prices include VAT and some do not. £22 + VAT and £26.40 are the same price.
  • Filing the change. For an existing company, someone has to tell Companies House about the new address. Some providers leave this to you; others file it with your company’s authentication code.
  • Your part of the UK. A London address only works for companies registered in England and Wales. Scottish and Northern Irish companies need an address in Scotland or Northern Ireland.

How to Choose a Registered Office Service

  1. Decide which addresses you need. Registered office only, registered office and director service address, or a business address for your website and invoices as well. Our guide to removing your home address from Companies House explains which one hides what.
  2. Check the address is allowed. It must pass the registered office address rules: same part of the UK, an appropriate address, not just a PO Box.
  3. Expect an identity check. Address providers are covered by the Money Laundering Regulations 2017, so a legitimate provider asks for photo ID and a recent proof of address before the address can be used. A provider that does not ask is a warning sign.
  4. Compare the yearly total. Add the extras you need, VAT and the renewal price, then compare.
  5. Make the change. New companies give the address when they are formed. Existing companies file the change of registered office with Companies House.

Best Choice by Situation

  • Lowest cost, UK-based director, official post only: one of the low-cost yearly plans in the table is likely to be enough. Check whether you also need a director service address.
  • You want your home off the register completely: choose a plan with a registered office and a director service address, such as CorpAssist’s registered office and director service address at £59.99 a year.
  • You live outside the UK: choose a provider that accepts foreign ID documents and can check them online. CorpAssist also forms the company and arranges Companies House identity verification in the same order; see UK company formation for non-residents.
  • You need an address for customers, a website or invoices: a business address plan, which also covers the registered office and director service address.
  • You want post forwarded or a place to meet: a virtual office plan with forwarding and meeting rooms fits better than a registered-office-only plan, at a monthly price.

Registered Office, Filing and Verification in One Order

CorpAssist provides registered office and director service addresses for companies registered in England and Wales:

  • London registered office from £39.99 a year, with official letters from Companies House and HMRC scanned and emailed to you
  • Registered office plus director service address for £59.99 a year, so neither the company nor the director shows a home address
  • All three addresses, including a business address for your website and invoices, for £99.99 a year
  • For existing companies, the change of registered office is filed at Companies House for you
  • Identity check online with your passport or ID card and a proof of address, including documents from outside the UK
  • Companies House identity verification for directors and PSCs can be added to the same order (£35.99 per person)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cheapest registered office address in the UK?

Google listings on 27 October 2026 showed registered office services from about £22 to £30 a year at the low end. Compare the full cost before choosing: whether a director service address is included, what happens to post that is not from Companies House or HMRC, and what the plan costs when it renews.

Is there a free UK address I can use?

There is no free registered office service run by the government. You can use an address you already have the right to use, such as your home or your business premises, at no cost. Some accountants let clients use their office address as part of their fees. Otherwise a registered office service charges a yearly or monthly fee.

Can I create a virtual registered address in the UK?

Yes. A registered office service gives your company a physical address that you have permission to use, and handles the official post sent there. It must be in the same part of the UK as the company: England and Wales companies need an address in England or Wales. A PO Box on its own is not allowed.

What address can I use to register my business in the UK?

Any physical address in the part of the UK where the company is registered, where post reaches someone acting for the company and delivery can be acknowledged, and which you are entitled to use. That can be your home, an office, your accountant’s office or a registered office service.

Can a non-UK resident use a UK registered office service?

Yes. A company formed in England and Wales can have a registered office there even if all its directors live abroad. The provider will check your identity first, usually with a passport and a recent proof of address. CorpAssist does this online and accepts documents from outside the UK; the address costs £39.99 a year.

Does a registered office address hide my home address?

It keeps your home off the register as the company’s address. Each director also has a service address on the register, which is public too, so you need a director service address as well if you do not want your home shown there. Your residential address is still given to Companies House, but it is kept off the public record.
