Missed the Companies House Verification Deadline?
Missed your Companies House identity verification date? What happens next, what to do first, and how to get your personal code in 1 business day.
If your date has passed, whether that was your company’s first confirmation statement after 18 November 2025 or your PSC birth-month window, you can still verify. You need to do it now, before it blocks anything else.
What Happens If You Missed the Verification Deadline
- Filings can be rejected. Confirmation statements and appointment filings that need a verified officer can be refused until you verify. A late confirmation statement is itself an offence for the company and its officers.
- It is an offence. Failing to verify without a reasonable excuse is a criminal offence under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023, and Companies House can use civil penalties. See what happens if you don’t verify.
- The register can show it. Your unverified status can appear publicly, and banks and business partners check the register.
What to Do First
- Verify today. With Fast Track, a complete application is processed in 1 business day.
- Get your personal code from the Companies House email, or under “Manage account” in your Companies House account. See personal code.
- Give the code to whoever files for the company, such as your accountant or company secretary, and file the overdue confirmation statement or appointment.
- Check your fellow directors and PSCs. One unverified officer can hold up the whole company. The verification status checker shows who has verified, and the deadline calculator gives each person's date.
- Keep a record of when you verified and filed, in case Companies House asks why a filing was late.
Why the Fastest Route Is Through an ACSP
When time matters, a failed attempt costs days. On the GOV.UK app route, a blurred photo, a chip that won’t read or a name mismatch means starting again on your own. With CorpAssist, a person checks your application before it is submitted through our Companies House-registered ACSP partner, and resubmitting a document is free. See verification failed if you have already tried, or how to verify your identity for every route.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I still verify after the deadline?
Yes. Verification stays open after your date has passed. You should verify as soon as possible.
Will I be fined automatically?
Enforcement is at Companies House’s discretion. Verifying promptly and filing quickly is the best way to show you acted reasonably.
My company’s confirmation statement was rejected. What now?
Verify, get your personal code and file again. A rejected filing is treated as not delivered, so the statement is still outstanding until it is accepted.
How fast can I get my personal code?
With CorpAssist Fast Track, a complete application is processed in 1 business day; Standard takes 2–3 business days. Companies House then emails your personal code.
